Renie Moss
Assistant Dean for Campus Life

Renie Moss joined the Samford University community in the summer of 2010. Renie most recently served as Dean of Students at Birmingham-Southern College and worked as Director of Student Activities and Director of Greek Life at Centre College and Director of Student Activities at Wesleyan College (GA). She holds a B.S. degree in English from Vanderbilt University and completed her masters work in Education at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. With over fourteen years of experience working in higher education, Renie enjoys providing opportunities for Samford students to grow in their leadership and service to the campus and community, while also providing for a campus environment that offers a diverse array of campus activities and events that ensure a fun and memorable college experience. Renie is originally from right here in Homewood, AL.
Dr. Denny Bubrig
Director of Greek Life

Denny Bubrig, an Oxford, MS, native, serves as the Director of Greek Life after joining the Samford family in November of 2010. He is a 14 year veteran of higher education. He holds a B.A. in Political Science and Broadcast Journalism and an M.A. in Higher Education and College Student Personnel from the University of Mississippi. He also holds a Ph. D in Higher Education Administration from the University of Alabama. Previous professional posts include Associate Director of Residence Life and Director of Greek Affairs and Assistant Dean of Students at Bowling Green State University, Activities Coordinator at University of Alabama, and Coordinator of Student Activities and Greek Life at University of Tennessee-Martin, to name a few. As Director of Greek Life at Samford, Denny advises the three governing Greek Councils encompassing 13 active intl/national Greek organizations housed at Samford University, supporting their efforts to promote the values of scholarship, leadership, and service through annual campus programming.
Nick Madsen
Director of Campus Recreation

Nick Madsen joined the Samford University community in September of 2004 as Coordinator of Campus Recreation. In January 2006, he was named the Director of Campus Recreation. Originally from Algona, Iowa, he graduated from North Iowa Area Community College with his Associates degree and finished his Bachelor's degree in Recreational Management at the University of Wisconsin La Crosse. He went on to complete his masters work in Sports Administration at University of Wisconsin La Crosse. Nick's responsibilities over Campus Recreation include managing indoor and outdoor athletic and recreational facilities, overseeing intramurals, facilitating outdoor activities, managing the fitness programs, advising the sport clubs, hiring, training, and evaluating around 100 student employees, marketing all programs/activities, developing hours of operations for facilities and working with Exercise Science & Sports Management, Athletics and Student Government Association for facility needs.
Janna Pennington

Janna joined the Campus Life Staff in August 2010 as Director of Student Leadership and Programming. Prior to working at Samford, Janna served as Service-Learning Coordinator at Georgia Southern University, Housing Area Coordinator at Furman University, and Graduate Assistant in The University of Georgia’s Career Center. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Furman and a Master of Education in Professional Counseling from The University of Georgia. Janna is originally from Statesboro, Georgia and she loves traveling and learning about different people and cultures. As an undergraduate student, Janna studied abroad in southern Africa and attended the International Summer School at the University of Oslo in Norway. Janna advises Samford's Student Government Association and coordinates various leadership development opportunities for students.
Anna Brown
Leadership and Service Coordinator

Anna Brown joined the Campus Life staff in August 2011 as Leadership and Service Coordinator. After graduating from The Altamont School in Birmingham, Anna attended the University of Virginia where she majored in English and minored in Spanish. She then taught elementary school in Washington, D.C. for two years before returning to UVA to complete a Masters degree in Student Affairs Practice in Higher Education. As an undergraduate student, Anna studied abroad in Spain and was involved with the Nicaraguan Orphan Fund, an organization that connects college students to needs overseas. In graduate school, she did extensive research on the impact of alternative spring break on student civic engagement.
Janet England
Administrative Assistant to Campus Life and Student Services

Janet joined the Campus Life staff in September of 2010, having been a part of the Samford community for 12 years with previous posts in Counseling Services and Disability Support Services. Janet is originally from Brownsville, TN and attended San Antonio College in Texas. She spent over eight years in the Air Force and also worked at Maryville College in Maryville, TN. She assists with the daily office responsibilities for Campus Life, Greek Life, Student Leadership and Programming and Community Service.
